SHS placement: Over 564,000 candidates successfully placed

The Ministry of Education says more than 564,000 candidates have been successfully placed in Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes through the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

In a statement issued by its Public Relations Unit, the Ministry disclosed that out of 590,390 qualified candidates, “over 564,000 have been successfully placed in Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes.”

The CSSPS Resolution Centers, which opened nationwide on Friday, September 18, 2025, have since received 1,358 complaints from parents and guardians.

According to the statement, the majority of these cases involve requests for school changes. “Approximately 76% of requests involve movements from Category C and B schools to Category A schools, 14% from B to B, and 10% from C to C,” the Ministry noted.

It emphasized that while parents often prefer Category A schools for their wards, placement is determined by merit and availability.

“Placement is determined by raw scores, available vacancies, and competition levels. As such, even high-performing candidates may not always secure their first-choice schools,” the statement explained.

Beyond school changes, other issues brought to the Resolution Centers include a change of residence, a change of program, and cases where candidates were not automatically placed.

The Ministry stressed that changes in residence are generally not allowed, but exceptions are made for health-related reasons or family relocations.

For candidates who were not placed automatically, the Ministry encouraged the use of the self-placement option.

“So far, about 70% of such candidates have been successfully placed through this process,” the Secretariat confirmed.

The Ministry also assured parents and students that all legitimate concerns are being reviewed with fairness.

“Genuine concerns brought to the Center are being reviewed and addressed accordingly,” the statement added. It further noted that data for re-entry students is currently being processed.
