Global Info Analytics poll puts Haruna Iddrisu ahead in NDC flagbearer race

The Education Minister leads the pack with 30 percent support.

A new poll by Global Info Analytics has ranked Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu as the frontrunner in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer race.

He secured 30 percent support, ahead of National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who followed with 24 percent.

The survey also placed Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson at 18 percent, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah at 10 percent, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa at 8 percent, and Agric Minister Eric Opoku at 2 percent. Other contenders such as Joshua Alabi, Armah Kofi-Buah, Kwame Awuah-Darko, Spio Garbrah, and Okoe Vanderpuye polled between 0 and 2 percent.

In a three-man contest without Ato Forson, Haruna Iddrisu’s support rose to 45 percent, followed by Asiedu Nketia with 37 percent and Julius Debrah with 18 percent. Among NDC voters, Haruna polled 47 percent compared to Asiedu’s 39 percent and Debrah’s 14 percent. In the swing regions, Haruna secured 48 percent, Asiedu 37 percent, and Debrah 15 percent.

The poll also tested a scenario without Haruna Iddrisu, which produced a much closer contest. Asiedu Nketia led narrowly with 40 percent, Dr. Ato Forson followed with 38 percent, and Julius Debrah secured 22 percent. Among NDC voters, Asiedu had 42 percent, Forson 41 percent, and Debrah 17 percent. In the swing regions, Forson topped with 47 percent, followed by Asiedu at 38 percent and Debrah at 15 percent.

Meanwhile, on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) side, the poll indicated that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a commanding lead in the party’s presidential primaries, winning 47 percent of delegate support. The results, released on Monday, September 29, 2025, position him as the clear front-runner, though a significant number of delegates remain undecided.
