Three young men have been sentenced to a combined 75 years imprisonment with hard labour by the Offinso Circuit Court for conspiracy and robbery.
The convicts are Nasiru Abdul-Malik, 22, Solomon Kwaku Annor Clinton, 23, and Hakeem Ibrahim, 20, all residents of Asempaneye, who pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to commit robbery and carrying out the attack. According to police, the robbery occurred on September 23, 2025, around 1:30 a.m. when the three, armed with an axe, a machete, and a pair of scissors, attacked a driver and his mate at Asempaneye near Akomadan. The victims, who had earlier parked their truck carrying fertilizer for repairs, were robbed of mobile phones, cash, and personal belongings.
Items stolen included a Samsung A24 smartphone valued at GH¢14,000, an Itel smartphone worth GH¢400, an Itel keypad phone valued at GH¢100, two bags, and GH¢1,400 cash.
With the swift intervention of Asempaneye youth, the suspects were arrested the same day. The stolen items were retrieved, and during investigations, the accused admitted to the crime.
Police have since transferred the convicts to Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving their sentences.
The Ashanti North Police Command commended the vigilance of Asempaneye residents and assured the public of its continued commitment to fighting crime and ensuring public safety.
