GES interdicts Okadjakrom SHS teacher over alleged sexual misconduct

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted Mr. Mfo Richard Tibetor of Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Oti Region over alleged sexual misconduct with a female student.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 2, the GES said it had taken note of a disturbing video circulating on social media that allegedly showed Mr. Tibetor involved in the misconduct.

The Service described the incident as “unacceptable, unethical, and a clear violation of the professional code of conduct for teachers.”

Mr. Tibetor has been interdicted and barred from entering the school premises while investigations continue.

The GES assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring discipline and the safety of students.

“The safety and protection of all students remain our topmost priority. Any teacher found culpable of acts that compromise the dignity and well-being of students will face the full rigours of the law,” the statement emphasized.

Parents and guardians have also been assured that the matter will be pursued to its logical conclusion. The Service reaffirmed its zero tolerance for misconduct that undermines child protection in schools.

GES Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, who signed the release, stressed that professionalism and discipline remain central to the Service’s mandate.

“GES will continue to ensure discipline, professionalism, and child protection across all schools in the country,” the release concluded.

The incident has generated widespread public concern, with many education stakeholders calling for stricter monitoring mechanisms in schools to prevent similar occurrences.

This development comes after a video recently shared online captured an assistant headmaster of KNUST Senior High School touching a female student inappropriately. He has since been suspended by the Ghana Education Service.
