Defend yourselves against violent Attacks – Muntaka to Security Personnel

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has urged security officers across the country to defend themselves against violent attacks from civilians while carrying out lawful duties.
He made the call following a surge in assaults on police, military, and other security personnel during official operations.
In a statement issued on behalf of the National Security Council, the Minister described the attacks as “acts of aggression” that undermine state authority, national security, and the rule of law. He stressed that no individual or group has the right to obstruct or assault public officers in the performance of their duties.
“No individual or group has the right to attack or obstruct public officers in the lawful discharge of their duties, whether verbally, physically, or through the use of weapons,” the statement said.
The Interior Minister emphasized that while the government continues to ensure accountability and professionalism within the security services, personnel must not allow themselves to become victims of lawlessness. He therefore directed security agencies to apply the necessary minimum force to protect themselves and enforce the law when confronted with violent resistance.
“The Council has directed that all security agencies should use the necessary minimum force to defend themselves and maintain public order whenever their safety is threatened,” the statement added.
Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability while ensuring that all security operations are conducted in accordance with constitutional and democratic principles.
He also appealed to the general public to respect security officers and cooperate with them during operations, warning that anyone who attacks or obstructs them will face the full rigour of the law.
“The government will not tolerate acts that endanger our security personnel or threaten public safety. Let us work together to protect the peace and stability of our nation,” the Minister emphasized.
