Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu nominated as next Mamponghene

The Queen Mother of Asante Mampong has named 51-year-old Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu as the new candidate for the Mampong Silver Stool, paving the way for his succession after the death of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II in April this year.
The announcement was followed by a solemn traditional rite at the Mampong Palace on Monday, marking the official presentation of his nomination. The final approval now rests with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in accordance with long-established Asante custom.
The ceremony, steeped in ancestral symbolism, represents the unity of the Bretuo lineage and the readiness of the Mampong Traditional Area to usher in a new phase of leadership.
Born on March 14, 1974, Mr. Osei-Bonsu combines a deep sense of royal heritage with an accomplished professional background. He attended the City of Kumasi School and later Prempeh College before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Geometric Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He continued his studies abroad, earning a Master’s degree in Geo-Information and Earth Observation from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and another Master’s in Computational Science and Engineering from the University of Munich, Germany.
With over 20 years of experience in geospatial technology and software development, Mr. Osei-Bonsu currently serves as Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany, where he leads teams in advanced geospatial and digital engineering projects.
His nomination comes at a time of reflection and renewal for the Mampong Traditional Area following the passing of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, a revered traditional leader celebrated for his wisdom and long service to Asanteman.
