Northshore Apparel to begin full operations in four months

The largest garment manufacturing company in Northern Ghana, Northshore Apparel, is expected to commence full operations within the next four months.

Chief Executive Officer of Northshore Apparel, Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen, disclosed this during a study tour by a team from the Royal College of Defence Studies of the United Kingdom, stating that the company is fully prepared for large-scale production.

According to him, the company has completed major preparations needed to begin full operations and is positioning itself to become a major player in Ghana’s textile and garment manufacturing industry.

“We are ready for full-scale production. In the next four months, Northshore Apparel will be fully operational, and our focus is not only on production but also on creating jobs and building skills among the youth,” he stated.

He explained that the company intends to employ more young people, particularly from Northern Ghana, and provide them with technical training to meet the growing demands of the garment manufacturing sector.

He noted that skills development remains a key part of the company’s long-term vision, stressing that young workers would receive hands-on training in garment production, quality control, industrial sewing, fabric cutting and other technical areas to enhance their employability.

Alhaji further highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s industrialisation and job creation agenda by reducing unemployment and increasing local manufacturing capacity.

“This initiative goes beyond employment,” he added. “We want to build a skilled workforce that can compete in the garment industry and contribute to economic development in the country.”

The visit by the UK Royal College of Defence Studies team formed part of efforts to understand Ghana’s industrial growth, investment opportunities and private sector contributions to economic development, especially in the northern parts of the country.

Members of the delegation were taken through the company’s production facilities and briefed on plans for expansion, workforce development and export opportunities once full production begins.

Industry observers believe the operationalisation of Northshore Apparel could significantly strengthen the garment and textile value chain in Northern Ghana, while opening new economic opportunities for communities in the region.

With full operations expected to begin in the coming months, many young people in Northern Ghana are hopeful the company will provide sustainable jobs and practical skills needed to improve livelihoods and support local economic growth.
