Advans Ghana strengthens leadership to accelerate nationwide growth and impact

…As Advans Ghana enters a new phase of growth and expansion, the institution is strengthening its leadership team with the appointment of one of Ghana’s most experienced microfinance executives. The appointment reflects Advans Ghana’s ambition to deepen its reach, expand financial inclusion and support more entrepreneurs and small businesses across the country.
Advans Ghana Savings and Loans has appointed Mr. Kwame Owusu-Boateng as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, responsible for Sales, Distribution and Business Development, effective 22 July 2026. The appointment strengthens the institution’s executive leadership as it expands its support for the micro, small and medium enterprises that form the backbone of Ghana’s economy.
In his new role, Mr. Owusu-Boateng will lead Advans Ghana’s commercial function, with oversight of sales performance, the branch and distribution network, and the growth of the institution’s client portfolio nationwide. He will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the executive management team to deliver on the institution’s growth objectives.
“Kwame brings an exceptional combination of leadership experience, commercial expertise and deep market knowledge,” said Mr. Guillaume Valence, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. “His appointment strengthens our ability to scale sustainably, deepen our reach across Ghana and expand access to financial services for the entrepreneurs and small businesses that drive the country’s economy.”
Mr. Owusu-Boateng brings twenty-five years of professional and leadership experience spanning international trade finance, banking operations, microfinance, marketing, development finance and executive management. He began his banking career with Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited as a Trade Finance Operations Officer.
Immediately prior to joining Advans Ghana, he served as Chief Executive Officer of a leading savings and loans institution in Ghana for twelve years, becoming the first Ghanaian to hold the position and leading a period of significant institutional growth while strengthening governance and compliance frameworks. “I am honoured to join Advans Ghana at such an exciting stage of its development — an institution with a strong reputation for serving the micro, small and medium enterprises that are the backbone of Ghana’s economy,” said Mr. Owusu-Boateng. “I look forward to working with Guillaume and the team to deepen our reach and impact.”
His areas of expertise include banking governance and regulatory compliance, strategic sales and operations management, development finance and social enterprise, strategic marketing & communications, leadership and team building.
Mr. Owusu-Boateng holds a BSc from the University of Cape Coast and an Executive MBA from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He has completed executive programmes including Strategic Management in Microfinance at Harvard Business School, the Boulder Microfinance Training Programme in Turin, “Leading with Impact” at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and the African Board Fellowship organised by Accion International in Cape Town.
