Ghana’s UK High Commissioner calls for probe into PhD cohort president over alleged dependent payment scheme

Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sabah Zita Benson, has called for investigating agencies to invite Prince Bansah, president of the PhD cohort, over his alleged knowledge of a scheme involving payments for dependents accompanying awardees to study.

In a Facebook post, Mrs. Benson alleged that Mr. Bansah and some of his colleagues had attempted to justify what she described as fraudulent payments during a Facebook Live session.

“Whatever you do, Pls try and watch to the end!” she wrote.

“Last night, Prince Bansah, the president of the Ph.D cohort, and some of his friends did a fb live trying to justify the fraudulent payment of dependents accompanying awardees to study,” she stated.
According to Mrs. Benson, the participants made statements during the session, which, in her view, could assist investigations into the alleged scheme.

“They said a lot of incriminating things out of ignorance,” she added.

Mrs. Benson subsequently called for Bansah to be invited by the relevant investigative authorities, suggesting that his knowledge of the alleged scheme could be useful to investigations.

“I think Prince seems to know how the fraudulent scheme worked, so he also needs to be invited by the investigating agencies to assist with investigations into this matter,” she wrote.

She also dismissed comments made about her during the Facebook Live session, describing them as “ignorant statements” that would not deter her from pursuing the matter.

“As for the ignorant statements you bunch made about me, I find it laughable. It won’t sway me from this cause one bit,” Mrs. Benson stated.
