Tanker drivers suspend three-day strike after engagement with BOSTenergies

BOSTenergies has engaged representatives of fuel tanker drivers over concerns at its Kumasi Depot following a planned three-day strike by the drivers.
In a statement dated Monday, August 17, 2026, BOSTenergies said the concerns, which prompted the planned industrial action, relate mainly to the condition of a loading arm and inadequate parking capacity at the Kumasi Bulk Road Vehicle (BRV) Park.
The company said the issues were already known to management and were being addressed before the intended strike.
BOSTenergies said it had engaged a contractor to replace the damaged loading arm, with the intervention expected to restore the facility to the required operational, reliability and safety standards.
The company also assured stakeholders that the Kumasi Depot continues to meet market demand using the existing loading arms.
On the parking challenge, BOSTenergies said it had acquired land for the development of a new 200-truck-capacity BRV parking facility.
“The planned expansion is expected to significantly improve parking capacity and ease congestion associated with tanker operations at the Kumasi Depot.”
As an interim measure, the company said it continues to lease a third-party facility to provide parking for BRVs while construction of the new facility is completed.
BOSTenergies said it subsequently engaged representatives of the tanker drivers’ union and provided assurances on steps being taken to address the concerns.
“Following the engagement, the tanker drivers have agreed to suspend their intention to embark on the proposed three-day strike and continue dialogue with BOSTenergies as the outstanding concerns are addressed.”
The company said it values the role of tanker drivers in the distribution of petroleum products across the country and remains committed to constructive engagement with them and their representatives.
BOSTenergies added that it would continue working with the tanker drivers, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the concerns are addressed in a sustainable and responsible manner.
