Bolgatanga Girls SHS: GES interdicts two watchmen over alleged sexual assault

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed an alleged sexual assault involving a student of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School in the Upper East Region.
According to the GES, the alleged incident involved two watchmen of the school.
In a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the GES said preliminary reports indicate that the student is a special needs student who is on medication and had suffered a relapse on the day of the incident, requiring medical attention.
“It was during this period that the alleged incident occurred,” the statement said.
The two watchmen have since been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigations.
The GES said management has also interdicted the two suspects with immediate effect while investigations continue.
“Thorough investigations into the matter are currently ongoing. Based on the outcome of the investigations, Management will apply the appropriate sanctions in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana,” the statement said.
The Service further cautioned its staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every student.
“Management further cautions that the Service will not tolerate any conduct that compromises the safety and wellbeing of students,” it added.
The GES assured parents, guardians and the general public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
