Public confidence in Mahama’s Reset Agenda remains strong – Anatu Bogobiri Esq.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri Esq, says public confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s administration remains strong despite ongoing scrutiny of some government policies and projects.

Madam Bogobiri said the discussions and criticisms surrounding initiatives such as GoldBod, fuel sector reforms and major infrastructure projects were a normal part of democratic governance and should not be interpreted as a loss of public confidence in the administration.

“I have been following public discourse on social media and in the public space, where discussions on national development continue with keen interest,” she said.

She noted that several government initiatives had come under public scrutiny in recent weeks, particularly GoldBod, fuel sector reforms, the Big Push initiative and the Kumasi Expressway.

“In recent weeks, various government initiatives such as GoldBod, fuel sector reforms, and major infrastructure projects including the Big Push initiative and the Kumasi Expressway have come under public scrutiny, as is normal in any vibrant democracy,” she said.

Despite the divergent views on these initiatives, Madam Bogobiri said a significant section of the Ghanaian public continued to have confidence in the Mahama administration and its Reset Agenda.

“What is however striking is the sustained public confidence in the administration of President John Dramani Mahama. Despite the diversity of opinions, a large section of Ghanaians continue to express faith in the Reset Agenda,” she said.

According to her, government’s policies were being implemented across various sectors, with the results expected to become increasingly visible over time.

“It is evident that steady progress is being made across sectors. Implementation is ongoing and the results are beginning to take shape gradually,” she said.

Madam Bogobiri consequently urged President Mahama to remain focused on delivering on the mandate given to his administration by Ghanaians.

“President John Dramani Mahama should remain focused on delivering on his mandate. The Reset Agenda is strongly on course!” she added.

President Mahama returned to the presidency in January 2025 after securing victory in the 2024 presidential election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

His administration has described the Reset Agenda as a programme aimed at rebuilding the economy, improving public services, creating jobs and implementing reforms across key sectors.

GoldBod has emerged as one of the government’s major interventions in the mining sector, particularly in efforts to reform Ghana’s gold trading system and increase the country’s benefits from its mineral resources.

The administration has also placed significant emphasis on infrastructure development through the Big Push initiative, which includes major road projects such as the Kumasi Expressway.

Fuel sector reforms have likewise attracted public attention and political debate as the government works to implement its economic policies.

Madam Bogobiri’s comments come amid continued public discussion about the performance of the Mahama administration, with the NHIA official maintaining that the government should remain focused on implementation and delivering on its promises.
