Volta Region remains central to Mahama’s development agenda – Julius Debrah

Chief of Staff Dr. Julius Debrah says the Volta Region remains a key priority in President John Dramani Mahama’s development agenda.
Representing President Mahama at the 2026 Asogli Te Zã Grand Durbar in Ho on Saturday, October 3, Dr. Debrah said the President had asked him to reassure the people of the region of his continued commitment to its development.
According to Dr. Debrah, the government sees the Volta Region as an important centre for production, tourism and trade and is working to translate that vision into tangible development.
He said President Mahama’s responsibilities on the international stage had not diminished his focus on the region.
“President Mahama continues to carry Ghana’s voice with confidence on the global stage. He has spoken for fairer development, a stronger African voice in global governance, expanded trade and investment, and justice for people of African descent,” Dr. Debrah said.
He added, “He asked me to assure you that the Volta Region remains close to his heart and central to the Government’s development plans.”
Dr. Debrah said sustainable development could not be achieved by government alone, stressing the need for collaboration among traditional authorities, businesses, communities and citizens.
“Development works the same way. Government, traditional authorities, business, communities and citizens must each do their part,” he stated.
He also commended the people of the Volta Region for their contribution to Ghana’s development, highlighting their roles across various sectors.
“This Region has given Ghana outstanding teachers, farmers, artists, entrepreneurs and patriots. Our nation is stronger because of you,” he said.
The Chief of Staff also paid tribute to the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, for his leadership and contribution to the development of Asogli and Ghana.
“Togbe Afede, you have given Asogli and Ghana leadership of rare breadth. You have shown that tradition and boldness about the future can strengthen each other,” Dr. Debrah said.
He noted that the government’s development agenda for the Volta Region includes infrastructure investments under the Big Push programme, including major road projects aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic activity.
Dr. Debrah represented President John Dramani Mahama at the 2026 Asogli Te Zã Grand Durbar at Jubilee Park in Ho.
The celebration was held under the theme, “United in Purpose, Investing in People and Infrastructure for Sustainable National Development.”
It brought together traditional leaders, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Asogli citizens and other dignitaries.
