‘Ghana Jollof’ case: Salomey granted GH¢100,000 bail

The Adenta Circuit Court has granted Madam Salomey Awity Bafoh, a Senior Nursing Officer, bail of GH¢100,000 with two sureties in connection with the case involving content attributed to the ‘Ghana Jollof’ social media account.
The court directed that the two sureties must be civil servants earning at least GH¢3,000.
Madam Bafoh is facing a charge of abetment of crime over allegations linked to the circulation of content associated with the ‘Ghana Jollof’ social media account. She has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The case follows her arrest and subsequent detention as investigations continued into the circulation of the said content.
Madam Kodua, popularly known as ‘Ghana Jollof’, has also been linked to the case.
Prosecutors have alleged that Madam Bafoh acted as a liaison for Madam Kodua and assisted in the distribution of videos on social media platforms.
The prosecution had previously opposed Madam Bafoh’s release, citing ongoing investigations and concerns over possible interference with electronic evidence.
An earlier bail application before the High Court was also refused. The High Court, however, made clear that the decision was not a determination of guilt and that Madam Bafoh remained presumed innocent.
With the latest ruling, Madam Bafoh is expected to remain on bail as proceedings in the case continue.
