MTN Bright Scholarship: Dr. Apaak challenges beneficiaries to contribute to Ghana’s development

Deputy Minister for Education Dr. Clement Abas Apaak has urged beneficiaries of the 2026 MTN Bright Scholarship Awards to make effective use of the opportunity by remaining focused on their studies and preparing to contribute to Ghana’s development.
He said scholarship recipients had a responsibility to turn the support they had received into meaningful achievements that would benefit not only themselves but also the country.
Dr. Apaak gave the advice on Thursday, October 22, 2026, while representing Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu at the MTN Bright Scholarship Awards ceremony.
He congratulated the beneficiaries, describing their recognition as a reflection of their hard work, resilience and commitment to academic excellence.
“To the beneficiaries here today, congratulations. You have earned this recognition through hard work, resilience and commitment to academic excellence,” he said.
Dr. Apaak encouraged the students to remain disciplined and focused as they pursued their educational ambitions.
“Let this scholarship be both your reward and your charge. Stay focused. Stay disciplined,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become leaders, innovators and professionals who could help address Ghana’s development needs.
“Use this opportunity well, and strive to become the leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, educators, scientists, engineers, healthcare professionals and change-makers this country needs,” he said.
Dr. Apaak said supporting students through scholarships was not merely a form of financial assistance but an investment in the country’s future workforce and leadership.
“The future of Ghana depends on the investments we make in our young people today,” he said.
He added, “Every scholarship awarded is not only support for one student. It is an investment in the workforce, the leadership and the development our nation will need tomorrow.”
The Deputy Minister said the MTN Bright Scholarship Programme played an important role in helping brilliant but needy students overcome financial barriers that could prevent them from pursuing their academic goals.
He noted that while government was implementing policies and allocating resources to improve access to education, private-sector support remained essential to reaching students in need.
Dr. Apaak commended MTN Ghana and the MTN Ghana Foundation for their continued contribution to education through the scholarship programme.
He also encouraged other businesses to support similar initiatives, stressing that partnerships between government and the private sector could help ensure that deserving students were not left behind because of financial difficulties.
The 2026 MTN Bright Scholarship Awards brought together representatives of MTN Ghana, the MTN Ghana Foundation, education officials, parents, guardians and scholarship beneficiaries to celebrate academic achievement and support for students.
