Gov’t is determined to end Free SHS food shortages – Kwakye Ofosu

The Government has assured Ghanaians that it will put measures in place to address the food shortages that have plagued the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme.

Notably, the government’s assurance is a response to the recent food shortages that have affected many Free SHS schools, resulting from poor planning and implementation of the education policy by the previous government.

The shortages have caused inconvenience to students and parents, highlighting the need for urgent action.

Speaking on Channel One TV, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, acting spokesperson to President John Dramani Mahama, the government has released GHS200 million to address the shortfalls in feeding.

The release of GHS200 million is a significant step towards addressing the food shortages, and the government has promised to take further measures to ensure that the problem is resolved permanently. This includes improving the procurement process and ensuring that food suppliers are paid on time.

“So for now, that has been done and going forward, adequate measures will be put in place to ensure that we have enough food to feed the students,” Kwakye Ofosu noted. This assurance is a welcome relief to students, parents, and teachers who have been affected by the food shortages.
