Let’s rally behind Bawumia – Young Lawyers for Bawumia to NPP

Young Lawyers for Bawumia (YL4B), a group within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for unity and discipline among party members as the party opens nominations for its 2028 presidential flagbearer race.
The group, made up of legal professionals aligned with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, issued a statement urging aspirants and their supporters to uphold the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and internal democracy throughout the contest.
In a press release signed by Chris Arthur Esq and Ernest Opoku Nti Esq, the group commended the party’s efforts to maintain democratic traditions and urged aspirants and their supporters to remain focused on the bigger goal of national service.
“The language we adopt, both in public and private conversations, must, at all times, uphold the dignity and unity of our party,” the statement read. The group emphasized that the strength of the NPP lies not only in its ability to field competent leaders but also in its commitment to unity during competitive periods.
The lawyers praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his record in office, particularly his contributions to digital governance, financial inclusion, and Ghana’s economic resilience. They described him as a leader who champions consensus, not division, and whose vision aligns with the NPP’s goal of building a prosperous and inclusive Ghana.
Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, they added, reflects pragmatism, stability, and innovation — values the group believes are crucial for the party’s future direction.
YL4B also reminded party members of the NPP’s core mandate: to uphold rule of law, tolerance, and a shared sense of national purpose. “Let us support each other, celebrate our diversity of ideas, and rally behind the values that set the NPP apart over the years,” the statement urged.
The New Patriotic Party, currently in opposition after losing the 2024 general elections, is in the process of reorganizing and preparing for a possible comeback in 2028. With the opening of nominations for the flagbearer slot, the party is entering a crucial internal phase that will determine its leadership going into the next presidential race.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who served under the NPP’s last administration, remains one of the party’s most influential figures, with several groups urging him to contest the flagbearership.
