New Juaben Omanhene calls Omane Boamah a ‘treasure’ to the Nation

The Omanhene of New Juaben, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, has paid tribute to the late former Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a priceless asset to both the New Juaben Traditional Area and Ghana as a whole.
Speaking to the press, the chief recalled Dr. Omane Boamah’s significant role in advancing development in the Eastern Region, noting that his contributions had left a lasting impact on the community.
“New Juabeng has lost a treasure, Ghana has lost a treasure,” he said.
Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III lamented that the former minister’s death — alongside seven other senior state officials — occurred while serving the nation, underscoring their dedication and courage.
“May their bravery inspire a safer and more sustainable future for our nation,” he added.
Dr. Omane Boamah was among the eight victims of the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. The aircraft was transporting government officials and military personnel to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme (COMSDEP) when it went down, claiming the lives of all on board.
The government has announced that Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, both Muslim victims of the crash, will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic tradition. Janazah prayers will be held on Sunday, August 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forecourt of the State House, followed by burial at the Military Cemetery in Accra at 2:30 p.m.
An inter-denominational state funeral for all eight victims will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square, where the nation will pay its final respects to the fallen officials.
