Omane Boamah’s demise is deeply personal for me – Adu-Boahene

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Security Bureau, has expressed deep sorrow over the helicopter crash that claimed eight lives last Wednesday in Adansi-Brofoyedu, Ashanti Region.
The accident involved two serving ministers, senior government officials, and military officers, whom Adu-Boahene described as “a national wound that will take a long time to heal.” He further said, “Ghana has lost dedicated public servants and brave officers who served the country with honour.”
In a heartfelt message, Adu-Boahene extended condolences to the families of the victims and the entire nation. Reflecting on his personal connection to one of the deceased, Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, he said, “This loss is deeply personal for me. He was more than a colleague — he was a mentor during our school days. It is painful to say goodbye under such tragic circumstances.”
The victims were traveling to Obuasi when the helicopter crashed. Those who perished include Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, former Minister of Agriculture and Acting National Security Coordinator; Samuel Sarpong, National Vice-Chairman of the NDC; and Samuel Aboagye, Deputy NADMO Coordinator and former parliamentary candidate.
The Ghana Armed Forces officers who died were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, the pilot; Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, co-pilot; and Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah, crew member.

Adu-Boahene praised their dedication and sacrifice, assuring that their legacy would endure. He urged all Ghanaians to come together in solidarity with the grieving families. “This is not a time for politics,” he said. “Let us stand together as one nation and honour the memory of those who gave their lives in service to Ghana.”
