Oforikrom residents laud local authorities over newly constructed road

Residents of Oforikrom in the Ashanti Region have expressed appreciation to their local assemblies for the freshly constructed road in the vicinity.

The improved road links Sewua in Bosomtwe District to Kodiekrom in the Deduako Electoral Area.

According to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the construction is an ongoing project with the Bosomtwe District Assembly led by Mr. Abdullah Hamid. It includes the dredging of the Oda River aimed at addressing perennial flooding.

Residents, who could not hide their excitement, recalled the initial difficulty they had to endure in plying the road. They observed that vehicles could not use the road as it was not motorable.

In previous media interviews, others also recounted harrowing ordeals their fellow residents had to endure along the road.

“You cannot use this road as a woman after 7 pm because bad actors will attack you and seize your belongings. You can even be sexually assaulted. We are tired,” one resident had said before construction on the new road began.

They noted that with the improved road, the communities were now linked seamlessly for a swift and convenient commute.

“They have come to construct the bridge, and now vehicles frequent the road. Now the road connects to places,” one pleased resident observed.

“Bosomtwe has now been linked to Oforikrom and Tech (KNUST). The Bosomtwe DCE has done well. Oforikrom DCE has also come in to assist the project. They have worked well together,” said another.

Meanwhile, Dr. Amoakohene has disclosed that the Roads Minister, Governs Kwame Agbodza’s commitment to asphalt the road in order to ease movement in the Oforikrom and Bosomtwe communities.
