Ghana Immigration Service warns public against fake recruitment scam

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has cautioned the public to ignore a fraudulent recruitment advertisement circulating widely on social media platforms.

In a statement released by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, the Service clarified that it is not conducting any recruitment at the moment and has not authorized the sale of e-vouchers for enlistment purposes.

The fake advert, which has been circulating online, falsely claims that e-vouchers for recruitment can be purchased at GHC350 via a short code, 422473#. It also provides misleading timelines, stating that applications are open from August 27 to September 15, 2025, and again from August 27 to November 15, 2025.

GIS stressed that these dates, codes, and payment requests are entirely fraudulent and warned the public not to fall prey to the scam. The Service urged anyone interested in immigration recruitment to visit a GIS office nationwide for verified and accurate information.

“The Ghana Immigration Service has not commenced any recruitment exercise. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report such scams to the appropriate authorities,” the statement emphasized.

Authorities reminded citizens that such scams not only defraud unsuspecting applicants but can also compromise personal information. The GIS reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and encouraged the public to rely only on official channels for recruitment updates.
