Legacy Rise eulogizes victims of car crash involving Anthony Joshua

Legacy Rise Sports has mourned Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami following the fatal crash in Nigeria that Anthony Joshua survived.
In a statement issued under the banner of GFI CY Legacy Rise Sports, the organization described the loss as devastating and extended condolences to the bereaved families and those affected by the tragedy.
“Legacy Rise Sports is deeply saddened by the loss of Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. Our hearts go out to their families, friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss,” the statement said.
The group recalled the time both men spent in Ghana, noting that their impact on the community was profound and lasting.
“Latif and Sina shared meaningful time with us in Ghana, where their presence, energy, and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone they encountered,” Legacy Rise Sports stated. “They will be remembered for the light they brought and the connections they built during their time with our community.”
The tribute follows a deadly car crash on Monday on Nigeria’s Ogun–Lagos expressway involving British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
The incident claimed two lives and left several others injured.
Local police confirmed to media in Nigeria that Joshua, 36, was taken to the hospital alongside other injured passengers after the collision on the busy highway linking Ogun State to Lagos. Initial briefings indicated the former world champion suffered minor injuries and was “fine,” though further medical assessments were ongoing.
According to preliminary accounts, Joshua was seated in the back of a vehicle that collided with a stationary truck.
The reason the truck was parked on the road and whether warning signs were displayed remain unclear.
Images circulating online appear to show Joshua sitting topless at the back of a damaged vehicle amid shattered glass. The BBC has reported it is working to verify the authenticity and context of the photographs.
Joshua, who has family roots in Sagamu in Ogun State, has frequently spoken about his ties to Nigeria.
Legacy Rise Sports also expressed sympathy for the boxer and his family.
“We extend our sincere condolences to Anthony Joshua and his family during this difficult time,” the statement added, saying the organization stands in solidarity with all who mourn the loss.
