Police restore calm after mob attack on Nsuaem Police Station
The Western Central Regional Police Command has restored order at Nsuaem after a violent mob attacked the local police station, leaving several people injured.
According to police reports, the chaos erupted on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, after a group of about fifteen men brought a suspect, Sulley Moses, 25, to the station.
The men accused him of attempting to lure two children, aged seven and five, near Nivo Filling Station.
Police said the suspect was detained after preliminary interrogation and confirmation from the children that he had forcibly held one of them as they tried to leave.
Shortly afterward, a mob of about 500 people armed with stones and other weapons besieged the station, demanding the suspect’s release.
The irate youth blocked the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and hurled stones at the police, damaging two vehicles, parts of the station building, and several impounded motorbikes.
A police reinforcement team, supported by the military, was deployed to quell the disturbance. “The situation was brought under control,” the statement said, adding that three police officers and four civilians sustained injuries and were treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital. One of the injured civilians was later transferred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for further care.
The suspect has since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Headquarters for further investigation. All officers at the Nsuaem Police Station have been relocated for safety, and the facility has been temporarily closed.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Western Central Region, condemned the incident in strong terms. She said the command “strongly condemns the attack and assures the public that all perpetrators will be identified, arrested, and brought to justice.”
The police have appealed to residents to remain calm as investigations continue and security is reinforced in the area.
