200 prophecies received so far – Afriyie Ankrah

The Office of the Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations has received over 200 prophecies since a directive was issued on August 10, 2025. The directive followed the tragic August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said only a small fraction of the submissions merit further review.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah explained that the office is not solely focused on processing prophecies but also collaborates with local and international faith bodies, including ECOWAS, the African Union, the United Nations, and religious organizations across Ghana.
According to the envoy, most of the prophecies submitted after the crash lack substance.
“By and large, 70–80% is of no substance,” he said, adding that only 2–5% may warrant deeper review.
The directive encouraged church leaders to formally channel prophecies concerning national security, political leadership, or public stability to the envoy’s office for urgent assessment, in a bid to separate genuine spiritual insight from fear-inducing speculation.
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah emphasized that sensitive prophecies with potential security implications must be submitted privately rather than shared publicly. His office has set up a WhatsApp platform and an official email to receive the submissions.
“Testing means there is room for review … There’s a lot that is completely bogus … But there may be a few that have some substance,” he said, citing biblical guidance on testing prophecies.
He further clarified that the office, established two weeks ago, is not a “collector of prophecies,” as some reports suggested, but is aimed at fostering unity and harmony among Ghana’s religious communities.
Highlighting the role of religion in Ghana’s social fabric, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah noted that over 90% of Ghanaians belong to a faith community, making interfaith collaboration a vital component of governance and social cohesion.
On August 10, 2025, the office in a statement urged religious leaders nationwide to submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of national significance. The initiative seeks to ensure responsibility, discernment, and proper stewardship over the nation’s destiny, particularly during times of uncertainty.
