2026 SHS Placement: GES opens WAEC portal for school selection exercise

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened the WAEC portal for capturing and uploading candidates’ school selection data for the 2026 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise.

The development was announced in a statement signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division (Secondary), for the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

According to the GES, the portal will remain open from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, for Heads of Junior High Schools (JHSs) to capture and upload candidates’ school choices.

The Service has directed all schools that have not yet completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the CSSPS portal for pre-testing to do so and subsequently capture the required data on the WAEC portal.

GES said the portal has been configured to allow schools to use the same school ID and password simultaneously on multiple computers.

“This facility will enable schools with large numbers of candidates to capture and upload data concurrently, thereby facilitating the timely and efficient completion of the exercise,” the statement said.

The Service has also directed Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, as well as Examination Coordinators, to closely supervise the exercise and ensure that all eligible candidates’ data are captured, verified and submitted within the stipulated period.

GES further urged Regional Directors of Education to communicate the directive to all relevant schools within their jurisdictions and ensure strict compliance.

The latest exercise forms part of preparations for the 2026 school placement process, as the Education Service works to ensure that candidates’ school choices are properly captured and submitted ahead of the placement exercise.
