24-hour Economy Policy: No need for rush, we have a plan – Julius Debrah

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah says the government will not rush the 24-hour economy policy, insisting a clear implementation roadmap is in place.
In an interview with TV3 ahead of the State of the Nation Address, Mr. Debrah stressed that the administration has deliberately followed laid-down procedures to ensure the policy is rolled out in a structured and sustainable manner.
He revealed that the programme has already been presented to Parliament and has now been formalised into an Authority to supervise its execution.
“As a government, you don’t rush into implementing policies and if you follow the 24-hour programme, we have taken it to Parliament. It has now become an Authority and we are going to roll out according to the plan of the President,” he stated.
According to him, the establishment of the Authority marks a critical milestone in transitioning the policy from proposal to full implementation.
Mr. Debrah further indicated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration remains focused on honouring its commitments to Ghanaians, expressing confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.
“The bottom line is that the President has been delivering and we are very optimistic that he is going to keep to his promise that he made to the nation. Just be rest assured,” he said.
The 24-hour economy initiative is a flagship programme of President Mahama’s administration. It is designed to encourage businesses and public institutions to operate beyond conventional working hours to enhance productivity, generate employment and drive economic expansion.
Government officials believe that with the Authority in place, coordination among stakeholders will improve, operational guidelines will be clearly defined, and sectors capable of sustaining round-the-clock activity will receive the necessary support.
Mr. Debrah maintained that government’s approach prioritises planning over haste, noting that careful execution will ensure the policy delivers meaningful economic benefits and long-term national impact.
