Multichoice endorses Sam George DStv deal

MultiChoice Ghana has thrown its full support behind the new DStv value offering championed by Samuel Nartey George and the Ministry of Communication.
In a statement issued October 1, the company clarified that earlier FAQs on its website had created “an erroneous impression of a contradiction” regarding the value offering, which took effect the same day.
It reassured customers that the initiative, developed in collaboration with regulators, will enhance access and flexibility for subscribers nationwide.
“We fully support the joint media statement that was issued by the Honourable Minister, Hon Samuel Nartey George, and implementation of the same has already commenced,” the company said.
MultiChoice confirmed that a committee will periodically review the policy to assess its impact.
“As contained in the said joint media statement regarding the value offering, the Committee will reconvene in three (3) months to evaluate the impact of this initiative. This will be a periodic exercise,” it explained.
The broadcaster stressed that no restrictions exist on subscriber choices. “There is no restriction on a subscriber’s choice of a bouquet.
This offer is available to both existing, returning, and new customers from 1st October 2025,” the statement emphasised.
MultiChoice also apologised to its customers for the confusion caused by its earlier communication. “We apologize for any inconvenience the FAQs may have caused,” the company concluded.
The endorsement follows a joint press conference involving the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, the National Communications Authority, MultiChoice Africa, and MultiChoice Ghana, where reforms in the pay-TV sector were outlined.
The initiative is expected to address long-standing concerns about affordability and fairness in DStv pricing and offerings, easing tensions between regulators and MultiChoice.
