Burn my excavators if I’m involved in galamsey – Yammin to Task Force

National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yammin, has challenged members of the anti-galamsey task force to burn his excavators if they believe he is engaged in illegal mining.
He has also dismissed recent allegations linking him to illegal mining activities, describing them as politically motivated fabrications.
Speaking in an interview with Ambassador TV’s Osei Kwadwo, monitored by Today.com.gh, Mr. Yammin said the accusations were baseless and intended to tarnish his reputation following the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
“I want all the anti-galamsey task forces to burn all my excavators and publish my galamsey site to shame me if indeed I’m involved in any galamsey activities,” he declared. “All those spreading false news about my involvement have failed to publish my galamsey concession because they have no evidence. People are just trying to destroy my name, but it won’t happen — I will fight until I win.”
He reiterated his innocence and insisted that he has no involvement in illegal mining. “I don’t engage in galamsey activities, and that’s why I have been bold enough to tell all the anti-galamsey task forces to go to my so-called galamsey site and burn all my excavators and equipment,” he emphasized.
Mr. Yammin also dared his critics to provide proof of their claims. “All those accusing me should be bold enough to publish my galamsey site to back their allegations and shame me, but they can’t because they know they are spreading misinformation to damage my reputation,” he said.
He further stated that he was not above the law and welcomed any legitimate investigation. “If indeed I’m involved in galamsey, the anti-galamsey task force should go on site, burn my excavators, and show the whole world. But even those spreading the news know they are lying. I will soon take legal action against them,” he warned.
In July 2025, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, directed the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate several individuals alleged to be involved in illegal mining, including Mr. Yammin and Yakubu Abanga.
