Greater Accra Kusasi Chief leads courtesy call on Ga Mantse

The Greater Accra Kusasi Community, led by its Chief, Naba Billia Tiewin Faisel Mahama Abugri, has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse in Accra as part of efforts to strengthen traditional relations and promote peace and unity between Kusaug and the Ga State.
The visit was undertaken on behalf of the Overlord of Kusaug, Zug-Raan Naba Asiigir Abugrago Azoka II, whose goodwill message was delivered by his legal counsel, Maxwell Agbambilla. The delegation said the engagement was intended to reaffirm long-standing traditional bonds, deepen mutual respect between the two traditional areas, and update the Ga State on ongoing peace efforts in Bawku.

As part of the message, the delegation conveyed New Year felicitations from the Zug-Raan to the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council. They also expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the Zug-Raan during his courtesy visit to the Ga State in the previous year. In addition, the delegation formally briefed the Ga Mantse on developments arising from the Otumfuo-led mediation process aimed at restoring lasting peace in Bawku.
The message further reaffirmed the Zug-Raan’s commitment to peace and stability and extended a royal invitation to the Ga Mantse to attend the 2026 Samanpiid Festival in Kusaug, should peace continue to prevail.
Responding to the delegation, the Ga Mantse commended the Greater Accra Kusasi Chief and his entourage for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of respect for traditional authority and peaceful coexistence. He expressed his gratitude to the Zug-Raan for his leadership and commitment to the peace process in Bawku, noting that the area has witnessed relative calm in recent times.
The Ga Mantse also commended Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his pivotal role in leading the mediation process, describing the initiative as central to efforts to bring lasting peace to Bawku. He pledged his support for all traditional and national initiatives aimed at sustaining peace, reconciliation and unity in the area.
He further assured the delegation that if peace is fully restored, he would be willing to join the people of Kusaug in celebrating the Samanpiid Festival. The Ga Mantse also urged members of the Kusasi community living in Accra to respect Ga customs, abide by the laws of the land and contribute to maintaining peace and security in the Ga State.
As a symbolic gesture of goodwill and enduring traditional relations, the Chairman of the Greater Accra Council of Kusasi Chiefs, who also serves as the Kusasi Chief of the Labadi Community, presented a cow to the Ga Mantse on behalf of Naba Billia Tiewin Faisel Mahama Abugri.
The cow, a royal donation from Zug-Raan Naba Asiigir Abugrago Azoka II, was received on behalf of the Ga Mantse by the Nai Wulomo, Chief Priest of the Ga State, together with the Abbosey Okai Ga Chief, symbolising unity, respect and the strengthening of traditional ties between Kusaug and the Ga State.
