Bolgatanga–Tumu road crash: Haruna Iddrisu, Sukparu in stable condition

Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu and Deputy Communications Minister Mohammed Adams Sukparu are in stable condition after a road accident on Thursday.

The crash occurred on the Bolgatanga–Tumu road while the two ministers and their teams were travelling to the Upper West Region for official engagements.

In a statement dated February 12, 2026, and signed by Press Secretary Hashmin Mohammed, the Office of the Education Minister confirmed the incident and assured the public of their condition.

“The Minister and the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu, are in stable condition following a road traffic accident involving their convoy on the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road today,” the statement said.

The ministers were en route to commemorate the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education when the accident occurred.

According to the statement, “The Ministers and their respective teams were en route to official engagements to commemorate the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education in the Upper West Region when the incident occurred.”

The Office further indicated that the situation was under control and that medical care was being provided to those involved.

“All members of the convoy are currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention,” it added.

The statement also conveyed appreciation to first responders and members of the public who assisted at the scene.

“The Office expresses its appreciation to emergency responders, health professionals, and members of the public for their swift assistance and concern,” it noted, adding that further updates would be communicated if necessary.

The incident briefly disrupted the ministers’ planned participation in the anniversary events but officials have assured the public that both are responding well to treatment.
