Foreign Affairs Ministry warns Ghanaian youth against QNET travel scams

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ghana) has cautioned Ghanaian youth to avoid recruitment and travel offers linked to the network marketing scheme QNET.
The warning was issued in a public announcement dated March 13, 2026, as authorities raised concern about increasing cases of Ghanaians being lured abroad under false promises.
According to the statement, individuals and networks associated with QNET have been targeting young people with offers of employment opportunities, business prospects and assistance in securing European visas.
Officials indicated that many victims were persuaded to travel outside Ghana based on misleading assurances, only to encounter serious difficulties upon arrival.
“The Ministry has observed with concern the increasing incidents of Ghanaian nationals who are being lured to travel outside the country under false pretences, including promises of employment opportunities, business prospects, and assistance in securing European visas,” the statement said.
Authorities revealed that some victims of the scheme have ended up stranded in foreign countries, while others have faced detention by immigration authorities or exploitative living conditions.
“These deceptive schemes have resulted in several victims being stranded, detained by foreign immigration authorities, or subjected to distressing and exploitative conditions abroad,” the statement noted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ghana) therefore urged the public to verify any travel, recruitment or business proposals through official institutions before making payments or leaving the country.
“Members of the public are therefore strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and to verify all travel, recruitment, and business offers through appropriate and official channels before making any financial commitments or travelling outside Ghana,” the statement added.
The Ministry also called on parents, guardians and community leaders to support efforts to educate young people about the dangers associated with such schemes.
Officials further encouraged the public to promptly report suspicious activities linked to the network to the Ministry or to relevant security and immigration authorities.
Authorities said the government remains committed to working with national institutions to safeguard the welfare of Ghanaian citizens and curb criminal networks targeting unsuspecting individuals.
