The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Elorm Abigail Mensah, has embarked on a nationwide series of market visits as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s initiative, “She Trades, Ghana Grows.”
The tour aims to directly engage Ghana’s hardworking market women and gain insight into their daily challenges and needs.

In a statement, Ms. Mensah said, “Bold Leadership. Real Impact. Genuine Connection. Today, as part of H.E. the President’s visionary initiative, ‘She Trades, Ghana Grows,’ I began a series of market visits to directly engage with our hardworking women who keep Ghana’s markets alive and thriving.”
The visits commenced in the Western Region, with stops at the Takoradi Central Market, Apremdo Market in Kwesimintsim, and the Sekondi Central Market. Ms. Mensah noted that each stop offered “valuable firsthand insights into the daily realities, challenges, and remarkable resilience of our market women.”

She explained that the engagement tour is designed to “listen, learn, and act,” allowing MASLOC to explore “flexible and impactful financing options designed to ease their daily burdens, expand their businesses, and strengthen their financial independence.”
Highlighting the leadership behind the initiative, Ms. Mensah added, “This initiative reflects the remarkable leadership of H.E. the President and the relentless compassion of the First Lady, whose dedication to the welfare of women and families continues to inspire us all.”

She further emphasised the broader goal of the programme, stating, “Together, we are building an economy that works for every Ghanaian woman, every market trader, and every community.”

The tour forms part of MASLOC’s ongoing efforts to ensure that women entrepreneurs across the country have access to financial support, practical solutions, and platforms where their voices are heard. By engaging traders directly, the CEO aims to strengthen the connection between policy initiatives and the real challenges faced in Ghana’s markets.

Ms. Mensah’s engagement underscores MASLOC’s commitment to empowering women, promoting financial independence, and supporting the President’s vision for inclusive economic growth.

The Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) is a government agency established to provide financial support and capacity-building services to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises across Ghana. The institution offers loans, training, and advisory services to promote entrepreneurship, reduce poverty, and strengthen local economic development.
