24-Hour Economy Market in Fumbisi a ‘game changer’ – Dr. Apaak

Member for Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has described the proposed 24 Hour Economy Market in Fumbisi as a “game changer” for Builsa South.

Dr. Apaak who doubles as Deputy Education Minister made the remarks when he joined chiefs and residents of the district to cut the sod for the construction of the modern market facility in the Upper East Region.

“It is not just a mere market, but a full package. That is why many call it a game-changer,” he stated.

“It is something we have never had before, and we are privileged that Builsa South is among the first few districts to witness the commencement of this project,” he added.

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South said the project forms part of the government’s broader 24-hour economy policy aimed at boosting economic activity, creating jobs and improving livelihoods.

According to him, the market project is a direct outcome of efforts to establish a 24-hour economic system that will create continuous opportunities for citizens while supporting inclusive development.

“The concept of the 24-hour economy market is a by-product of the 24-hour economic system that we are trying to nurture as one of the important pillars for transforming the fortunes of our country and improving the conditions of our people,” Dr. Apaak explained.

He praised President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress for introducing the 24-hour economy initiative, describing it as a bold vision for Ghana’s economic transformation.

“We are here today because a visionary leader made far-reaching promises many could not even fathom coming into fruition,” he said.

Dr. Apaak also thanked residents of Builsa South for the trust placed in him as their representative in Parliament and assured them of his continued commitment to the district’s development.

“I do not take the opportunity the people of Builsa have blessed me with as their Member of Parliament for granted,” he noted.

District Chief Executive for Builsa South, Anne Musah, assured stakeholders of the Assembly’s support to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Representing the Builsa Traditional Area, Thomas Akanko pledged the support of chiefs and elders toward the smooth implementation of the initiative.

Project consultant Sampson Awuah disclosed that the market is expected to be completed within 36 months and said local workers would be engaged during the construction phase to create jobs for residents.
