Transparency International advocates accountability in Ghana’s investment regime

The Finance and Administration Manager of Transparency International, Mr. Benedict Doh, has urged journalists to uphold professionalism and support transparency in Ghana’s investment sector through responsible and investigative reporting.
Mr. Doh made the remarks on 26th May, 2026, at a workshop organized by Transparency International and the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) at the True Vine Hotel under the theme: “Promoting Transparency and Accountability in Ghana’s Investment Regime: The Role of Journalists.”
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Benedict Doh emphasized the important role the media plays in promoting accountability, fighting corruption, and ensuring that investors and public institutions operate transparently.

He noted that accurate and balanced reporting by journalists is essential in building public confidence in Ghana’s investment environment.
He further encouraged journalists to deepen their understanding of investment policies and governance issues in order to inform and educate the public effectively.
The workshop also focused on provisions within the GIPC Act 865, particularly Sections 27 and 28, which address investment regulations and compliance measures aimed at promoting transparency and protecting national interests.

Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Michael Otchere, Deputy Director and Head of the GIPC Kumasi Zonal Office, reiterated the Centre’s commitment to promoting responsible investment practices in Ghana.
According to him, collaboration between the media and regulatory institutions is necessary to ensure public awareness and understanding of investment laws and policies.
He added that journalists serve as key partners in national development by promoting accountability and investor confidence.
The Training brought together journalists and media practitioners to discuss practical ways of strengthening transparency and accountability in Ghana’s investment regime.
