Iddrisu Sulemana wins NPP Savannah chairmanship after four-vote victory

Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana has been elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Savannah Regional Chairman after defeating former Ghana Water Limited Managing Director Clifford Abdallah Braimah by four votes.

Sulemana secured 92 votes in the closely contested regional executive election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, while Braimah polled 88 votes.

The result makes Sulemana the new leader of the NPP in the Savannah Region, following a competitive contest that saw both candidates attract considerable support from party delegates.

His four-vote victory highlights how closely fought the chairmanship race was, with the final outcome determined by a narrow margin.

As Regional Chairman, Sulemana is expected to take charge of the party’s organisational activities in the Savannah Region and work with the newly elected executives to strengthen the party’s structures in the Region.

The election also produced winners for other key regional executive positions. Aboagye Kwame was elected as the Regional Vice Chairman, while Seidu Ayuba emerged as the Regional Secretary after securing 91 votes.
