US$2.61bn investment inflows across 253 projects in 2025 signal investor confidence in Ghana – Dr. Asiama

Ghana recorded approximately US$2.61 billion in new investments across 253 projects in 2025, a development the Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, says reflects renewed confidence in the country’s economic prospects.
According to Dr Asiama, the investment performance is particularly significant given the global economic uncertainties and subdued investment flows experienced in several parts of the world.
Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre’s (GIPC) 2025 Annual Investment Report in Accra, the Governor said the figures showed that investors continued to identify opportunities within Ghana despite recent economic challenges.
“During 2025, Ghana recorded new investments valued at approximately US$2.61 billion across 253 projects. This is a strong indication that investors continue to see the opportunities that exist within our economy.
“Investment, at its core, follows confidence,” Dr Asiama said, explaining that investors look for economies where policies are credible, institutions are dependable and economic conditions are predictable.
He said the latest report provided evidence that Ghana was gradually restoring investor confidence after years of economic pressures, including high inflation, exchange-rate instability and tighter financing conditions.
“The Report demonstrates that, despite global uncertainties and subdued investment flows in many parts of the world, Ghana continues to attract meaningful investor interest,” he said.
Dr Asiama also noted that the quality of the investments was as important as their value, pointing to increased activity in manufacturing, agribusiness, logistics and technology-enabled services.
He said existing investors were expanding their operations and reinvesting in Ghana, while the country was also witnessing growing participation from locally owned enterprises.
The Governor disclosed that 71 wholly Ghanaian-owned projects valued at nearly US$686 million were registered during the year, describing the development as a sign that domestic investors continued to believe in Ghana’s long-term potential.
He further welcomed the increasing spread of investment beyond Greater Accra, saying a more geographically balanced investment landscape would be necessary to ensure that economic opportunities benefited communities across the country.
Dr Asiama said Ghana’s position as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, combined with its young population, improving infrastructure, abundant resources and growing digital economy, gave the country a strong advantage in attracting investment.
He, however, cautioned that maintaining investor confidence would require continued efforts to address infrastructure gaps, reduce the cost of capital, improve productivity and strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses.
“The opportunity now spans established sectors – agro-processing, manufacturing, energy, and ICT – and emerging frontiers in value-added mining, electric mobility, and the regulated digital economy,” he said.
Dr Asiama said the focus should now be on converting investment commitments into productive economic activity capable of creating jobs, increasing exports and improving the living standards of Ghanaians.
