BoG Governor: Economic stability key to investment, job creation

Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Johnson Pundit Asiama, has reaffirmed the central bank’s commitment to preserving price and financial stability to support investment, business growth and job creation.
Speaking at the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce’s CEOs’ Connect 2026 Business Breakfast Summit, Dr. Asiama said a stable macroeconomic environment was essential to creating the confidence businesses need to expand and invest.
The summit, held under the theme “Financing the Future: Capital Strategies for Cross-Border Business Expansion,” brought together business executives, investors and diplomats.
Dr. Asiama pointed to recent improvements in Ghana’s economic conditions, including inflation falling below the medium-term target, resilience in the cedi and strong capital and liquidity positions within the banking sector.
He said the gains were important not only for the economy but also for households and businesses, as stability helps make prices more predictable, protects savings and encourages investment.
The Governor also highlighted efforts to deepen Ghana’s capital markets, improve access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises and promote responsible innovation in the fintech sector.
He said the Bank of Ghana would continue engaging the private sector to ensure that macroeconomic stability translates into broader economic opportunities, improved livelihoods and sustainable job creation.
Dr. Asiama stressed that maintaining a sound financial and economic environment would remain central to Ghana’s efforts to attract investment and support enterprise development.
