NDC sets September 15 for constituency nominations, opens campaign window

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has set Tuesday, September 15, 2026, for the opening of nominations for its constituency executive elections.

The move marks the next phase of the party’s internal reorganization, with aspirants expected to begin the process of contesting various constituency executive positions across the country.

In a statement dated Thursday, September 10, the NDC said the nominations would open in line with its previously announced electoral timetable.

“This marks an important stage in the Party’s electoral process, and all members who intend to contest for the various Constituency Executive positions are encouraged to take full advantage of the process within the prescribed period,” the statement said.

Aspirants, proposers, seconders, and endorsers must be members in good standing and must have fully paid their membership dues for the last four years.

The party said all payments for the picking and filing of nomination forms must be made through its online portal, forms.ghanandc.com, using mobile money. Members with outstanding dues have also been directed to clear their arrears via 92025# or the party’s dues platform.

The NDC has also officially opened campaigning for its 2026 internal elections at the constituency, regional, and national levels.

“By virtue of this notice, campaign activities by all aspirants contesting the Party’s 2026 internal elections are hereby officially opened at the Constituency, Regional and National levels,” the party said.

However, the campaign window does not cover parliamentary aspirants, including sitting Members of Parliament and persons considering or intending to contest parliamentary elections.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this campaign window does not extend to persons who are pursuing or intend to pursue Parliamentary ambitions, including sitting Members of Parliament and persons currently considering or expressing an intention to contest Parliamentary elections.”

The constituency executive elections are scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026. Nominations will run from September 15 to 17, followed by filing on September 23 and 24, vetting from September 25 to 27, and appeals from September 29 to October 1.

The internal election process will later move to the regional level, with regional executive elections scheduled for November 14 and 15, before culminating in the National Congress on December 19, 2026.

The NDC has urged all aspirants and members to conduct themselves peacefully and in accordance with the party’s rules.
