Mahama heads to FT Africa Summit in London to discuss Africa’s economic prospects

President John Dramani Mahama is set to engage global political and business leaders on Africa’s economic future when he addresses the 2026 Financial Times Africa Summit in London.
The President arrived in the United Kingdom ahead of the high-level gathering, which convenes heads of state, international business leaders and institutional investors for two days of discussions on inclusive growth and investment mobilisation.
His address is expected to examine the strategic opportunities available to African countries, alongside the economic and geopolitical challenges that could affect the continent’s development prospects.
As Chair of the Presidential Council of the Accra Reset, President Mahama will contribute to discussions on Africa’s position in a changing global economic order and the prospects for unlocking investment to support sustainable and inclusive growth.
The summit provides a platform for African leaders and international stakeholders to consider ways of mobilising capital and strengthening the continent’s economic prospects amid changing global conditions.
President Mahama’s London visit forms part of wider international engagements that will also take him to Ethiopia.
After completing his engagements in the United Kingdom, he is expected to travel to Bahir Dar to lead the 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa.
In his capacity as Chairperson of the Tana Forum, the Ghanaian leader will formally present the State of Security in Africa Report on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The Ethiopia engagement will shift the focus from economic opportunities to the continent’s security challenges, bringing together discussions on issues affecting Africa’s stability and future.
