Apaak lauds Bolgatanga Technical University in Celebrating 25 Years of Technical Excellence

The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak on behalf of the Honourable Minister for Education, has commended Bolgatanga Technical University for its remarkable achievements in technical education, marking its 25th anniversary.
The celebration, themed “25 Years of Technical Education: Impact, Challenges, and Prospects,” highlights the university’s resilience, academic excellence, and transformational impact.
“This milestone is not just a commemoration of years gone by but a celebration of resilience, academic excellence, and transformational impact,” the Deputy Minister stated. Bolgatanga Technical University has indeed been a beacon of technical and vocational education in Ghana, shaping the future of the youth and contributing significantly to national development.
President John Dramani Mahama recognizes the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in driving socio-economic development, as outlined in the 2024 NDC manifesto. This commitment is reflected in the NDC government’s efforts to revitalize and expand access to technical and vocational education, ensuring Ghana’s workforce is globally competitive.
Over the past 25 years, Bolgatanga Technical University has made significant strides in technical education, training thousands of skilled professionals who contribute to industries across Ghana and beyond. The university has become a hub for innovation, providing hands-on experience in fields like engineering, applied sciences, business, and technology.
Through strategic collaborations with international institutions, such as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and the University of Ouagadougou, Bolgatanga Technical University has expanded its academic reach and strengthened its curriculum to meet international standards. These partnerships have provided students with opportunities to engage in exchange programs, research collaborations, and specialized training.
Moreover, the university has played a key role in promoting entrepreneurship, fostering a culture of innovation and self-reliance. This has empowered many young graduates to establish their own businesses, reducing unemployment and contributing to Ghana’s economic growth.
As Bolgatanga Technical University celebrates this milestone, it is clear that the institution remains committed to its vision of becoming the preferred technical university, producing graduates equipped with new technological skills for sustainable development.
