Zug-Raan-Overlord of Kusaaug Traditional Council mourns victims of helicopter crash

The Kusaaug Traditional Council has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent government officials, including two cabinet ministers, on August 6, 2025.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, Overlord of the Kusaaug Traditional Council, extended sympathies to the Government and people of Ghana, describing the loss as a dark shadow over the nation and an “irreparable void in our collective spirit.”
On behalf of the Council and the people of Kusaaug, Zug-Raan Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government, and the entire nation. He lauded the departed statesmen for serving the country with dedication, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to national development. Their legacy, he stressed, would forever be remembered, and their sacrifices would not be in vain.
The Zug-Raan called on all Ghanaians to unite in prayer and reflection during this period of grief, urging the nation to honour the memory of the departed by upholding the values of service, patriotism, and sacrifice that they so faithfully represented.
He expressed particular pain over the loss of the Honourable Minister for Defence, recalling his efforts and commitment to restoring lasting peace in Bawku and returning it to its former glory. “Little did we know that he would not live to witness the fruit of his labor come to light,” the Zug-Raan said.
The Kusaaug Traditional Council reaffirmed its solidarity with the Government and people of Ghana during what it described as one of the most painful moments in the nation’s history. The Zug-Raan prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for comfort for their families and the entire nation.
The fatal incident occurred near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on the morning of August 6, 2025. The aircraft, a Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter, was en route from Accra to Obuasi when it lost contact shortly after take-off.
