Watch Now: Muslim burial rites for Murtala and Alhaji Muniru

A solemn burial ceremony is underway at the Forecourt of the State House for Dr. Ibrahim Muhammed Murtala, former Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The two were among the eight individuals who lost their lives in the tragic Ghana Air Force helicopter crash in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The memorial ceremony has attracted numerous high-profile dignitaries, including President John Mahama, the Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, the NDC National Chairman, and the National Chief Imam.
Following the ceremony, the remains of the victims will be transferred to the Military Cemetery in Accra for final burial.
The two Muslim victims are being laid to rest today in accordance with Islamic tradition, while a larger inter-denominational state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square.
