Naana Jane enstooled as Gyaasehen of KEEA

Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman has described her enstoolment as Gyaasehen of the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Traditional Area as a humbling recognition, using the occasion to call for decency in politics.

The Vice-President, who was honored during the annual Nyeyi Afahye of Komenda, shared her reflections in a social media post on Saturday. “I am humbled by this recognition and extend my profound gratitude to Okatakyi Komeh VIII and the Traditional Council,” she wrote. “This honor is not only ceremonial but also deeply personal.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyeman stressed the need for a more respectful political culture. “In my remarks, I emphasized the importance of decency in our political environment and called for a collective approach to move the country forward,” she said.

She also highlighted a local development initiative, pointing to the completion of the Komenda Night Market as evidence of the government’s commitment to community welfare. “This market brings tangible benefits to the community and provides an opportunity for traders to work in dignity,” she noted.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Komenda, the Vice-President said: “I extend my sincere thanks to the Komenda Traditional Council and the entire community for their warm welcome and continuous support. I encourage them to continue standing with government efforts as we work to restore Ghana to the status we deserve.”

The Nyeyi Afahye is celebrated annually in Komenda to reaffirm cultural heritage and community solidarity. The enstoolment of the Vice-President as Gyaasehen, a traditional role that supports the chief and helps oversee palace administration, is an indication of the traditional council’s recognition of her national and local contributions.
