Amenfi Central MP honoured for outstanding support to PWDs

The National Disability Desk of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has honoured Hon. Joana Gyan-Cudjoe, Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central. The recognition was for her exceptional commitment to persons with disabilities (PWDs) and her dedicated service to the party.
At a ceremony held on Thursday, August 21, at her residence in Accra, the MP was presented with a citation in recognition of her generosity, logistical support, and unwavering advocacy, both before and after the 2024 general elections. The event was led by Comrade Joyce Gyamfi, the NDC National Campaign Coordinator for Women with Disabilities during the 2024 polls and Deputy National Coordinator in charge of Operations.
Hon. Gyan-Cudjoe, described as a patron and financier of the NDC Disability Desk, has been widely praised for never turning down requests from PWDs, consistently providing financial, material, and emotional support when needed.
The citation highlighted three key objectives: celebrating her parliamentary victory in 2024, appreciating her role in mobilising support from PWDs through consistent assistance, and encouraging discussions on policies to empower persons with disabilities in sustainable ways.
In her acceptance remarks, Hon. Gyan-Cudjoe expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to disability advocacy. She stressed that supporting PWDs is not merely charity but a responsibility she embraces as part of her public service.
“Supporting persons with disabilities is a sacred duty. I remain committed to ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs addressed through inclusive policies,” she said.
Her dedication, according to party officials, extends beyond her constituency, making her a national advocate for disability rights and inclusion.
The NDC Disability Desk commended her compassion, leadership, and generosity, describing her as a true friend and champion of persons with disabilities across Ghana.
