Bawku Central MP supports 244 tertiary students with GH¢245,000

The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has disbursed GH¢245,000 to support 244 tertiary students in the constituency.
The financial assistance is aimed at helping beneficiaries pay their academic fees and continue their education without interruption, particularly at a time when many families are facing economic hardship.
The intervention comes against the backdrop of ongoing conflict in the area, which has placed significant financial strain on parents and guardians, making it difficult for many to fund their children’s education.
Beneficiaries, drawn from various tertiary institutions across the country, received the support under a structured scholarship and assistance programme designed to improve access to higher education.

At a brief ceremony, the NDC Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Awindago, who represented the MP, reaffirmed the lawmaker’s commitment to prioritising education despite the challenges confronting the constituency.
He noted that investing in young people remains one of the most reliable ways to secure the future of the area, especially in difficult times.
Mr Awindago urged the students to take their studies seriously and make good use of the opportunity, stressing that the support should inspire them to excel academically.
He added that the initiative goes beyond financial aid and is intended to empower beneficiaries to contribute meaningfully to society after completing their education.
“The expectation is that students will justify this support through hard work and positive impact,” he said.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
They indicated that the prevailing situation in the area has affected their families’ ability to meet educational expenses, making the support crucial to their academic progress.
According to them, the assistance will ease the burden of unpaid fees and allow them to focus more on their studies.
Community members have also welcomed the initiative, noting that it provides relief to families grappling with the economic effects of the conflict.
They believe such efforts are essential in sustaining education within the constituency during challenging periods.
Hon. Ayariga has reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the initiative, indicating that more students are expected to benefit in the coming years.
He emphasised that expanding educational opportunities remains a key part of his broader development agenda for Bawku Central.
The intervention is expected to ease financial pressure on families while contributing to long-term human capital development in the constituency.
