Belarus visit: Mahama secures 1,840 agricultural equipment deal

President John Dramani Mahama has secured 1,840 pieces of agricultural equipment during his state visit to Belarus.

The equipment package includes tractors, combine harvesters, seed planters, and irrigation support systems aimed at improving efficiency across farming communities.

Speaking on the significance of the arrangement, President Mahama said the acquisition reflects his government’s commitment to transforming agriculture into a major driver of economic growth.

“Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy, and investing in modern equipment is essential to increasing production and ensuring food security,” he stated.

He noted that access to modern machinery would help reduce the burden on farmers, increase efficiency, and make the sector more attractive to young people seeking employment opportunities.

The agreement, one of the first major outcomes of the visit, is expected to enhance mechanisation in agriculture and improve productivity among farmers across the country.

The equipment will support land preparation, planting, harvesting, and other critical farming activities.

The deal is being hailed as a significant achievement of the President’s visit, demonstrating the government’s focus on securing practical partnerships that deliver direct benefits to the Ghanaian people.
