Black Rasta sued by Shatta Wale for ₵100M over fraud accusations

Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale has taken legal action against social commentator Black Rasta, seeking ₵100 million in damages over a viral video that allegedly labels him as fraudulent.
The lawsuit demands the immediate removal of the video from all social media platforms and a public retraction, arguing that the content has seriously harmed the musician’s reputation.
According to court documents, the video, titled “SHATTA WALE, SELF CONFESSED KING OF FRAUD,”was uploaded on 15 December 2025. In the clip, Black Rasta, whose real name is Abubakar Ahmed, allegedly portrays Shatta Wale, real name Charles Nii Armah Mensah, as dishonest and involved in criminal activity.
Shatta Wale maintains that the claims are false and made with malicious intent to mislead the public about his character. The statement of claim notes that the video implies he engages in internet fraud and other dishonest practices, allegations he strongly denies.
Beyond financial compensation, the musician is seeking a public apology and retraction. He wants the apology to appear on Black Rasta’s social media pages and as full-page notices in major newspapers, including the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic Showbiz.
The lawsuit emphasizes that the video has caused significant reputational damage and could negatively impact his professional and personal image. Shatta Wale’s legal team is asking the court to permanently remove the video and block any future dissemination of similar defamatory content.
The statement of claim highlights the video’s broad reach. Within 24 hours of being posted on Facebook, it reportedly garnered over 150,000 views, more than 1,000 comments, and around 6,000 likes. On YouTube, it received over 27,000 views, more than 40 comments, and upwards of 600 likes.
The wide circulation, Shatta Wale argues, amplified the harm caused by the false allegations and damaged his public image further. He insists that court intervention is necessary to hold Black Rasta accountable for the claims.
