Black Sherif wins Artiste of the Year at 27th TGMA

Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has won the Artiste of the Year award at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, held at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra on Friday night.
The prestigious awards ceremony, held on May 9, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre Grand Arena, brought together musicians, entertainment stakeholders, and fans from across the country to honour outstanding achievements in the music industry.
The award, considered one of the highest honours in Ghana’s music industry, recognises an artiste’s impact and success over the past year. Black Sherif beat competition from top musicians including Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Medikal, Wendy Shay and Diana Hamilton to take home the top prize.
Receiving the award, an emotional Black Sherif thanked his fans, team, and family for their support.
“This means a lot to me. Thank you to everyone who believed in me and supported my journey”, he said
He also encouraged young musicians to stay focused on their dreams, adding, “Keep pushing, stay true to yourself and never stop believing in your talent.”
The awards night was filled with exciting performances, colourful fashion moments, and loud cheers from fans and industry players.
Many people at the venue described Black Sherif’s victory as well-deserved after a successful year in music.
Some fans at the event praised the musician for his consistency and hard work. “Blacko really worked for this. He deserves it,” one excited fan said after the announcement.
Black Sherif’s latest win adds to his growing list of achievements and strengthens his position as one of Ghana’s leading music stars.
The ceremony also celebrated several musicians for their contributions to Ghana’s growing entertainment industry.
