Devtraco Plus denies building collapse at Roman Ridge
Real estate developer Devtraco Plus has dismissed claims of a building collapse at its Roman Ridge project, explaining that the incident involved only a temporary formwork failure.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 28, the company clarified that the incident occurred earlier in the day when “a localized section of temporary formwork supporting the freshly poured concrete gave way, resulting in the failure of approximately 50 square meters of wet concrete.”
The firm said its project management and safety teams swiftly implemented emergency procedures to safeguard workers on site.
“Fourteen (14) workers sustained minor to moderate injuries and were promptly transported to the 37 Military Hospital and Ridge Hospital for medical attention. Twelve (12) of the workers have been treated and are expected to be discharged by the close of day, while two (2) remain under observation and are stable,” the statement indicated.
Devtraco Plus stressed that the incident had no impact on the building’s integrity.
“The incident was limited solely to temporary works (formwork props) used to support the slab during the casting process. The permanent structural integrity of the building remains intact,” the company said.
It added that all work on the site is being executed in line with approved designs prepared and supervised by qualified consultants.
The affected portion has since been cordoned off, while project consultants, safety officers, and contractors are jointly investigating the cause to prevent any recurrence.
Devtraco Plus reiterated that “its foremost priority remains the safety and well-being of all personnel on site,” reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism across all operations.
Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has said that appropriate sanctions will be applied if investigations find any wrongdoing in connection with the collapse of a three-storey building under construction.
