Don’t devalue calls by Asiedu Nketia, Ato Forson on NDC’s next action on voter register audit – Dr. Apaak to EC

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak says the Electoral Commission (EC) should not underrate the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) next line of action to get the voter register audited.

The demonstration dubbed ‘Enough is Enough’ protest to get the nation’s electoral governing body to get experts to audit Ghana’s voter register happened in all sixteen regions in Ghana on Tuesday, 17^th September 2024 with thousands of Ghanaians participating.

Commenting on the protest, the Builsa South lawmaker stated that the signals by the NDC’s National Chairman, Asiedu Nketia, and the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Ato Forson must not be taken lightly.

“The need for a forensic and independent audit by a collective, including experts, local and international, has been justified beyond any doubt.

“The signal by Chairman Nketiah that we will continue protesting at the district level is no empty threat, and neither is the signal by our Minority leader to cause a recall of the party on this matter of grave importance,” Dr. Apaak stated.

Ghanaians of all walks of life were out in their numbers on the streets of Bolgatanga, as they did in other regional capitals yesterday, calling for a credible voters register.

With the magnitude of discrepancies exposed so far, the voters’ register can’t be credible by mere assurances from those under whose watch the discrepancies were birthed.

The need for a forensic and independent audit by a collective, including experts, local and international, has been justified beyond any doubt.

The signal by Chairman Nketiah that we will continue protesting at the district level is no empty threat, and neither is the signal by our Minority leader to cause a recall of the party on this matter of grave importance.

It’s our collective responsibility to protect our democracy by fighting for it and defending it at all costs. Stand up and be counted.
